Professor Chioma Kanu Agomo is a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State (2004-2008). She was the 1994-1995 Senior Fulbright Research Scholar (Southern University (A & M) Baton Rouge Louisina and Visiting Fulbright Specialist to Washington University School of Law in St Louis, Missouri, 2006. She is a veteran legal and policy strategist with specialist interests in Employment and Labour Relations; Insurance and Pensions; Social Security Law; Maternal/Reproductive Health and Gender Studies.

A graduate of Queen Mary College (now Queen Mary) University of London where she earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (1976), and Master of Laws (LLM) (1977), Chioma also holds multiple certificates from the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Turin, Italy and has written/developed academic/policy presentations at home and abroad, including a scholarly presentation before the American Society of International Law.

With over thirty eight years of teaching, research and supervision experience (including the successful supervision of seven (7) Ph.D), Professor Agomo has led and collaborated in various regional, national and multi-sector policy projects. Among others, she has acted as a Consultant to the International Labour Organisation on the Declaration Project Nigeria and the CLO/Konrad Adeneur Foundation Project Social Security Project for Nigeria involving multiple public institutions including the Nigerian Presidency, National Assembly, Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, National Health Insurance, Nigerian Medical Association, World Bank, etc.

She was also a Consultant for ECOWAS towards the ILO funded Draft Harmonisation of Labour Laws of ECOWAS Member States. Her Consultancy on the commissioned field work by the Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity for the Evaluation of the Performance of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) and the National Industrial Court (NIC) produced a seminal report that would remain a reference point for a decade until its adoption as a working paper during the ILO supervised Declaration Project Nigeria. She is among others a member of Council and Life Member, Nigerian Society of International Law; Board member, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers; member of Board of Trustees, Prison Fellowship Nigeria (PFN), (affiliated with Prison Fellowship International (PFI); and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.

LEGAL POLICY RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Consultant to the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), on the CLO/Konrad Adeneur Foundation Project on Social Security for Nigeria. This was a Pioneering work involving all the major stake holders- the Presidency, National Assembly, Nigeria Employers Consultative association (NECA), Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, National Health Insurance, Nigerian Medical Association, World Bank and others. The project which was wholly funded by the Konrad Adeneur Foundation, had reached the stage of bill drafting for presentation to the National Assembly, but was truncated by the death of Chuma Ubani, (CLO).
Senior Fulbright Research Scholar (Southern University A & M at Baton Rouge. Conducted research on Work Environment and Women; research explored the relationship between gender, discrimination and reproductive health policies in the workplace in the United States. Findings presented at the Regional Meeting of the American Society of International Law (Fifth Annual Fulbright Symposium) Golden Gate University School of Law, San Francisco, March 1995
Commissioned field work by the Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity. Evaluation of the Performance of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) and the National Industrial Court (NIC). The report remained for more than a decade the reference Point for any enquiry on the activities of the two institutions. It was later adopted as a working paper during the ILO supervised Declaration Project Nigeria
